Chapter 2.04 — CITY COUNCIL — Orange Cove Municipal Code

2.04.010 - Regular meetings.¶

The council shall hold regular meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month at the hour of six-thirty p.m. at the City Hall; provided, however, that when the second or fourth Wednesday in the month is a holiday, such meeting shall be held on the following Thursday of said month unless the mayor and/or the city manager shall, at the previous month's regular meeting, announce that the next meeting will be held at a different date in the following month.

2.04.020 - Councilmens' salaries—Authorization.¶

The ordinance codified in this chapter is enacted pursuant to Section 36516 of the Government Code, as added by Chapter 286 of the Statutes of 1965, authorizing the council to provide by ordinance that each member of the council shall receive a prescribed salary the amount of which is based upon the population of the city as determined by estimates made by the State Department of Finance.

2.04.030 - Population.¶

As of the date of passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter, the latest estimate of the population of the city made by the department of finance is five thousand six hundred fifty-seven.

2.04.040 - Councilmens' salaries—Amount.¶

In accordance with Government Code Section 36516 as applicable to cities up to and including thirty-five thousand in population, each member of the city council shall receive a salary of three hundred dollars per month.

2.04.041 - Mayor—Additional compensation.¶

The mayor elected pursuant to Section 34900 to 34904, inclusive, of the Government Code is to be provided a compensation in addition to that which he/she receives as a council member. Said compensation is to be an additional one hundred fifty dollars per month to be effective July 1, 1991.

2.04.050 - Councilmens' salaries—Increase or decrease.¶

Following any new and later estimate of population made by the department of finance placing the city in a population group other than that set forth in Section 2.04.040, the salary payable to each member of the council shall be increased or decreased accordingly to equal the sum prescribed for that population group in Section 36516 of the Government Code, as added by Chapter 286 of the Statutes of 1965; provided, however, that the salary as so increased or decreased shall become payable only on and after the date upon which one or more members of the council become eligible therefor by virtue of beginning a new term of office following the next succeeding general municipal election held in the city.

2.04.060 - Councilmens' salaries—Reimbursement.¶

The salaries prescribed in this chapter are and shall be exclusive of any amounts payable to each member of the council as reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by him in the performance of official duties for the city.

2.04.070 - Operative date.¶

The ordinance codified in this chapter shall become operative only on and after the date upon which one or more members of the council of the city becomes eligible for the salary prescribed herein by virtue of beginning a new term of office following the general municipal election next succeeding its effective date.
