SEC. 2.84. - Compliance with CEQA.

All discretionary public and private projects, unless exempt by law or regulation, shall comply with the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970, as amended, (CEQA) and such environmental guidelines as may be adopted from time to time by the council.

SEC. 2.85. - Time limits.

All time limits provided in this code for any action on such projects by the city, its boards, commissions, officers or employees, shall be suspended for such period of time as may be necessary in order to comply with the requirements of CEQA and the city's environmental guidelines, and such time limit shall commence to run upon (1) the written determination by the city, or its appropriate board, commission, officer, or employee, that such project is exempt from CEQA; (2) the filing with the county clerk of a negative declaration for such project; or (3) adoption of a final Environmental Impact Report, whichever is applicable.
