Montague Municipal Code Ch. 14.44 Pole Signs

• A. Maximum allowable sign area for pole, post, freestanding and outdoor advertising structures shall be computed according to the parcel frontage along the street to which the sign is oriented, as follows:

• l. Less than one hundred feet of front footage as defined in Chapter 17.16, not allowed;

  2. At least one hundred feet but less than one hundred fifty feet, fifty square feet;

  3. Over one hundred fifty feet, one hundred square feet.

B. Maximum height shall not exceed in overall height above the ground the maximum building height permitted in the zone in which the sign is located as provided by Chapter 17.16 of this code. (Ord. 89-10 (part), 1989; Ord. 89-3 (part), 1989)

A. When the distance from any sign covered by this chapter to any street line is less than its greatest height above the ground, and in all cases where any such sign is erected on private property used or intended to be used by the public as sidewalk or street, it shall be made of metal or approved combustible materials or approved combustible plastics, and the supports shall be of steel.

B. For location other than those specified in this section, the poles or posts may be of wood which has been treated by the pressure process with preservative which will protect it from insect and fungus attack, or may be of redwood equal to, or better than, foundation grade. A. Every pole or post sign shall be placed at least ten feet above the public sidewalk over which it is erected, and a distance of not greater than eighteen inches from the face of the pole to which it is attached, measuring from the point on the sign nearest thereto, nor shall any sign or part thereof extend nearer the curbline than two feet.

B. Every projecting pole sign shall be erected in full compliance with Section 14.12.020 and Chapter 14.20. (Ord. 89-3 (part), 1989)
