14.24.010 Limitations on dimensions.¶
- A. The vertical height of the advertising surface of the outdoor advertising structure shall not exceed twelve feet.
B. The length of the advertising surface of the outdoor advertising structure shall not exceed twenty-four feet; except that in an interstate freeway corridor, as defined in Section 14.68.010, such length shall not exceed forty feet.
C. The overall height above ground level of any advertising structure shall not exceed the maximum building height permitted, without a use permit, in the zone in which it is located as provided by Chapter 17.16 of this code. (Ord. 89-10 (part), 1989; Ord. 89-3 (part), 1989)
14.24.020 Minimum design and construction requirements.¶
A. l. All outdoor advertising structures not in excess of thirty-five feet in height shall be so designed and constructed that they will safely withstand a wind load from any direction of twenty pounds per square foot of exposed surface.
- All outdoor advertising structures exceeding thirty-five feet in height including any and all embellishments shall be so designed and constructed that they will safely withstand a wind load from any direction of thirty pounds per square foot of exposed surface.
B. All outdoor advertising structures shall be designed and constructed with a safety factor of two against overturning.
C. Working stresses for any material used in the construction of an outdoor advertising structure shall not exceed those specified in the Uniform Building Code. (Ord. 89-10 (part), 1989; Ord. 89-3 (part), 1989)
14.24.030 Materials.¶
A. All portions of any outdoor advertising structure which are in contact with the ground shall be made of steel or of wood which has been treated by the pressure process with a preservative which will protect it from insect and fungus attack, or redwood equal to or better than foundation grade.
B. The ornamental border of those portions of the frame shall be made of approved combustible material which is not subject to excessive deterioration from exposure to the weather, or approved combustible plastics or noncombustible materials.
C. The advertising surface of any outdoor advertising structure or post sign in fire zone one shall be made of metal or other incombustible materials or approved combustible plastics, or may be of approved combustible materials. (Ord. 89-3 (part), 1989)
