§ 2.84.010. Auction by chief of police.¶
The Chief of Police may, from time to time, hold a public auction at which lost or unclaimed property in the possession of the City may be sold to the highest bidder. Only those articles which have been in the possession of the City for a period of at least six months may be sold at such auction, except that bicycles in the possession of the City for a period of at least three months may be so sold.

§ 2.84.020. Notice of auction.¶
The Chief of Police shall give notice of the holding of a public auction at least five days in advance thereof by at least one publication in a newspaper of general circulation in the City.

§ 2.84.030. Disposition of receipts.¶
All funds realized at such public auction shall be paid into the general fund of the City.

§ 2.84.040. Unsold property.¶
Any item or article of lost or unclaimed property upon which no bid was made at public auction may be given to any charitable institution or destroyed at the option of the Chief of Police, with the approval of the City Manager.
