§ 2.24.010. Membership and compensation.

There is created a City Planning Commission consisting of 7 members to be appointed by the Mayor of the City, subject to approval by the City Council. The City Attorney shall act as advisor of the Planning Commission. Residence within the corporate limits of the City shall be a requisite for membership in the City Planning Commission. Members of the Commission may receive compensation for their services, the compensation shall be fixed by the City Council.

§ 2.24.030. Rules of procedure.

The Planning Commission shall adopt rules of procedure by resolution.

§ 2.24.040. Vacancies.

All vacancies on the Commission or in its offices shall be filled according to the method of their original selection, and such new members of offices shall serve at the pleasure of the Council for the unexpired term of their respective predecessors.

§ 2.24.050. Meetings—Officer selection—Notices—Quorum.

Members of the Planning Commission shall meet at such times and places as they may fix by resolution. They shall select one of their members as chairperson and another as vice-chairperson, who shall serve in the absence of the chairperson, and both shall serve for one year until their successors are elected. In case of their absence, the members of the Commission shall select a chairperson pro tem. The Planning and Building Director shall serve as Secretary to the Planning Commission, but shall have no vote. Special meetings may be called at any time by the chairperson, or four members, by written notice served upon each member of the Commission and to each newspaper of local circulation or any other news media requesting same in writing. Such notice must be delivered at least twenty-four hours before the time of such meeting as specified therein. All meetings of the City Planning Commission shall be public. Four members of the Commission shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The Commission shall cause a proper record to be kept of its proceedings.

§ 2.24.060. Powers and duties.

The Planning Commission shall have the powers and duties provided by law and shall act and be guided by the statute now or hereafter applicable to planning commissions.

No expenses of any kind shall be incurred by the Commission unless first authorized and approved by the City Council.
