§ 18.12.010. Alternates permitted when approved.¶
The provisions of this title are not intended to prevent the use of any material, appliance, installation, device, arrangement, or method of construction not specifically prescribed herein, provided such alternate has been approved.

§ 18.12.020. Approval criteria.¶
The City Building Inspector may approve any such alternate if he finds that the proposed design is satisfactory and the material, appliances, installation, device, arrangement, method or work offered, is, for the purpose intended, at least the equivalent of that prescribed in this title in quality, strength, effectiveness, durability, safety, and for the protection of life and health.

§ 18.12.030. Evidence or proof may be required.¶
The City Building Inspector may require that sufficient evidence or proof be submitted to substantiate any claims that may be made regarding the use of any such alternate.

§ 18.12.040. Tests required when.¶
Wherever there is evidence that any material, appliance installation, device, arrangement or method of construction, does not conform to the requirements of this title, or in order to substantiate claims for an alternate, the City Building Inspector may require tests by an approved agency as proof of compliance to be made at the expense of the mobile home park operator or mobile home owner.
