10.04.010 - Traffic control devices defined.

As used in this chapter the term "traffic control devices" shall mean, any sign, signal, marking or device placed or erected for the purpose of regulating, warning, or guiding traffic.

10.04.020 - Vehicle defined.

As used in this chapter the term "vehicle" means a device by which any person or property may be propelled, moved or drawn upon a highway, as defined by the Vehicle Code, excepting a device moved exclusively by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks.

10.04.030 - Installation of traffic control devices.

The director of public works shall be responsible for installation of traffic control devices in the unincorporated areas of the county. The director is authorized to cause installation of such devices as he or she deems necessary but shall seek specific location approval of the board of supervisors with respect to stop signs and yield signs.

10.04.040 - Compliance with traffic control devices.

Every person driving or operating any vehicle in the unincorporated area of the county shall, in accordance with state law, obey and comply with traffic control devices installed pursuant to this chapter.

10.04.050 - Violations—Penalties.

The violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute an infraction and shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00) for a first violation, a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00) for a second violation within one year, and a fine not exceeding two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) for each additional violation within one year.
