2.08.010 - Authority, powers and duties.

In order to enforce the regulations and rules of the State Board of Health, San Mateo County ordinances or the laws and regulations of the town in matters of public health, vital statistics and the control or eradication of any conditions of disease, pollution or contamination which may become injurious to the health, safety and welfare of the residents of this community, there shall be a health officer with powers and authority as follows:

A. He shall have power and authority to cite and summon any person to appear before him, or the city council, or the county health department, in regard to any violation of any law, ordinance or regulation pertaining to public health or sanitation. Persons so cited and summoned may be required to testify under oath administered by any qualified public official.

B. He shall have power and authority to enter upon any building or premises to inspect, examine, isolate, quarantine, placard and disinfect persons, places or things within the town.

C. He shall have the power and authority to appoint assistants, deputies and inspectors who shall have the same powers in all matters of public health.

D. He shall have the power and duties conferred upon him by any applicable city or county laws and regulations or by state law.

2.08.020 - Administration by county health department.

Pursuant to the provisions set forth in Section 476 of the Health and Safety Code of the state, the city council may by resolution consent to the extension of the jurisdiction of the San Mateo County Health Department to include all of the town and thereby delegate said "County Health Officer" as the health officer of this town empowered with all of the duties and authority set forth in Section 2.08.010.
