QUALITY CONTROL
[BS] A407.1 Structural observation, testing and inspec- tion. Structural observation, in accordance with Section 1709 of the California Building Code, shall be required for all structures in which seismic retrofit is being performed in accordance with this chapter. Structural observation shall include visual observation of work for conformance to the approved construction documents and confirmation of existing conditions assumed during design.
Structural testing and inspection for new construction materials shall be in accordance with the building code, except as modified by this chapter.

The provisions contained in this appendix are not mandatory unless specifically referenced in the adopting ordinance.

About this appendix: Chapter 11 of the International Building Code ® contains provisions that set forth requirements for accessibility to build- ings and their associated sites and facilities for people with physical disabilities. Sections 410, 605, 705, 906, 1006, 1012.1.4, 1012.8, 1105, 1204.1, 1205.15, 1401.2.5 and 1508 in the code address accessibility provisions and alternatives permitted in existing buildings. Appendix B was added to address accessibility in construction for items that are not typically enforceable through the traditional building code enforce- ment process.
