26-120 - Map Adoption—Requirements.¶
The County of Butte hereby designates the Fire Hazard Severity Zones as recommended by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection pursuant to Government Code section 51178. The County also hereby designates areas not identified as Moderate and High Fire Hazard Severity Zones by the State Fire Marshal, as Moderate and High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, respectively. The map, approved by the County, is hereby incorporated by reference, and is entitled the "Butte County Local Responsibility Area Fire Hazard Severity Zones Map." For the purposes of applying the Fire Code, the Building Code, and all defensible space requirements associated with the map, the following shall apply:
Where a parcel of land is intersected by more than one (1) designated Fire Hazard Severity Zone, the entire parcel shall be subject to the requirements and regulations associated with the most restrictive Fire Hazard Severity Zone applicable to any portion of the parcel, regardless of the amount of parcel area within each zone.

26-121 - Definitions.¶
For the purpose of this article, the following terms are defined:
Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ). Geographical areas designated pursuant to Public Resources Code sections 4201-4204 and classified as Very High, High, or Moderate in State Responsibility Areas or as Local Responsibility Areas Very High, High, or Moderate Fire Hazard Severity Zones pursuant to Government Code sections 51175-51189.
Local Responsibility Areas (LRA). Areas of the state in which the financial responsibility of preventing and suppressing fires is the primary responsibility of a city, county, city and county, or district.
State Responsibility Areas (SRA). Lands that are classified by the Board of Forestry pursuant to Public Resources Code section 4125 where the financial responsibility of preventing and suppressing wildfires is primarily the responsibility of the state.
