Article VI — Vacation Leave for City Employees

Sec. 2.43. - "Vacation Week" defined.

As used in this article, the term "vacation week" shall mean five days out of a calendar week of seven days.

Sec. 2.44. - Eligibility.

Part-time employees shall not be entitled to any paid vacation. A full-time employee must have been employed one year before he is entitled to any vacation with pay.

Sec. 2.45. - Amount of vacation periods dependent upon length of full-time employment.

Full-time employees of the city, after having been employed full-time for one year, shall become entitled to vacation periods with full pay dependent upon the length of full-time employment as follows:

(a)

Employees with one to five years of employment shall be entitled to two vacation weeks per year.

(b)

Employees with six to fifteen years of employment shall be entitled to three vacation weeks per year.

(c)

Employees with sixteen years or more of employment shall be entitled to four vacation weeks per year.

Sec. 2.46. - Accumulation of vacation time; forfeiture of unused vacation time; exception.

Vacation time cannot be accumulated in excess of that to which an employee is entitled in the current year, and unused vacation time shall be forfeited unless the city manager shall give express permission for such accumulation, and the same shall only be granted in unusual circumstances which require an employee to forego vacation for the convenience and benefit of the city.

Employees leaving the service of the city by resignation, dismissal or death shall be paid in a lump sum unused vacation time prorated from the first day of employment.
