Sec. 14.16. - Certificate of registration required.¶
It shall be unlawful for any persons to work in or be employed in a public eating place without first having obtained a foodhandler's certificate of registration or otherwise complied with the provisions of this article.

Sec. 14.17. - Application for certificate—Required.¶
It shall be the duty of every person before engaging in the dispensing, handling or preparation of food to apply to the health officer and obtain a foodhandler's certificate of registration.

Sec. 14.18. - Same—To be accompanied by fee and certificate of physical examination.¶
The application required by the preceding section shall be accompanied by a fee of two dollars, which fee the health officer is authorized to receive, and shall also be accompanied by the certificate of a duly licensed physician showing a recent physical examination of the applicant, including blood serology and X-ray of chest.

Sec. 14.19. - Issuance of certificate.¶
If the certificate of physical examination required by the preceding section indicates that the applicant is not infected with a communicable disease, the health officer shall issue the applicant a foodhandler's certificate of registration.

Sec. 14.20. - Duration of certificate; revocation.¶
The certificate of registration required by this article shall be good for six months from the date of issuance unless the holder of such certificate becomes infected with a communicable disease in the meantime, in which event such certificate shall be revoked by the health officer.

Sec. 14.21. - Renewal of certificate.¶
The certificate of registration may be renewed every six months upon the showing of freedom of communicable disease.

Sec. 14.22. - Notification by employer of new employee.¶
It shall be the duty of the operator of a public eating place to inform the health officer by mail or by other means of communication within twenty-four hours after the employment of a person who has not obtained a foodhandler's certificate of registration from the health officer.

Sec. 14.23. - Employees to obtain certificate within forty-eight hours.¶
It shall be unlawful for any owner or operator of a public eating place knowingly to continue the employment of any person for a period in excess of forty-eight hours without obtaining from the employee a foodhandler's certificate of registration issued by the health officer.

Sec. 14.24. - Foodhandlers in school cafeterias.¶
If the governing body of any school district has provided for the physical examination of any operator in any school cafeteria under its jurisdiction and in the opinion of the health officer such examination complies with this chapter and is sufficient to protect the patrons of such school cafeteria, the health officer may accept such examination in lieu of the examination provided for in this article and on the basis of such examination issue certificates to such operator.

Sec. 14.25. - Display of certificates.¶
Every owner or operator of a public eating place shall maintain and display on the premises of his establishment the foodhandler's certificate of registration issued by the health officer or his duly authorized representative at all times when the public eating place or any portion thereof is open to the public.

Sec. 14.26. - Lost certificates.¶
Any person who has lost his certificate of registration before the expiration date thereof, may apply to the office of the health department and obtain a copy upon the payment of a fee of fifty cents. Such copy shall expire on the same date as the original certificate of registration previously issued.

Sec. 14.27. - Reports of diseased employees.¶
It shall be the duty of the operator or owner of all public eating places to report as soon as possible to the health officer any illness of a communicable nature of any employee of such establishment.
