Brawley Municipal Code Ch. 19E Regulations for Designated Skateboard Areas

Sec. 19E.1. - Regulations for designated skateboard areas.

The following regulations shall apply within designated skateboarding areas:

  1. Except as specifically set forth in this chapter only skateboards and in-line skates will be allowed in the designated skateboard park.

  2. The city council may permit other activities such as bicycling at times and on such times it deems appropriate.

  3. No person shall utilize the area at times other than those established as the hours of operation. The normal hours of operation shall be 8:00 A.M. to sunset or as designated by the parks and recreation director. In the event the city council permits bicycle use, either it or the parks and recreation director shall post times designated for bicycle use. Bicycles shall be permitted only during such designated times.

  4. No person shall utilize the area when it is wet.

  5. No person shall use the area unless they wear proper safety equipment including a helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads. The parks and recreation director may establish standards for such equipment.

  6. No person shall consume food or drink in the area.

Sec. 19E.2. - Penalty.

Any violation of any section in this chapter is deemed to be an infraction and is punishable as such according to the provisions of this code and state law. The penalty for a first offense of any provision of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be a warning. The fine for a second offense of any provision of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be twenty-five dollars. The fine for a third offense of any provision of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be not less than fifty dollars. Thereafter, the fine shall be one hundred fifty dollars and loss of privilege to utilize the area.
