2.36.010 - Authority to create.

The Uniform Building Code of the state provides for the creation of an appeals board to determine alternative materials and methods of construction and to provide reasonable interpretation of the code.

2.36.020 - Appointment of members.

The city council shall appoint five members of the community as members of the appeals board, who will serve under the guidelines of Part 1, Chapter 2, Section 204 of the Uniform Building Code.

2.36.030 - Term.

The board shall serve at the pleasure of the council and shall have no fixed term.

2.36.040 - Duties of building official.

The building official shall be an ex officio member of the board and shall be the secretary thereof.

2.36.050 - Meetings—Rules for conduct of appeals.

The board shall meet at the call of the building official and shall meet at such times and places as the board shall determine by its rules created by the board. The rules shall prescribe reasonable rules and regulations for conduct of appeals.

2.36.060 - Setting of fees.

The board shall set fees for the investigation of alternative materials and construction methods, which fee shall be paid by the appellant as a condition precedent to an effective appeal. Its findings shall be in writing and delivered to the appellant.

2.36.070 - Compensation.

The members of the board of appeals (exclusive of the building official or his designee) shall be compensated at the rate of twenty dollars per meeting.
