State Law reference— Authority for local authorities to increase or decrease maximum allowed weight on any local street or highway, Vehicle Code § 35700 et seq.

(a) Whenever any city ordinance designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street, the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons, the council shall designate such street that may be so used. The city engineer shall post appropriate signs as truck traffic routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons.

(b) When any such truck traffic routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons shall drive on such routes and none other, except when necessary to traverse another street to a destination for the purpose of loading or unloading, but then only by such deviation from the nearest truck route as is reasonably necessary. This subsection shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the public utilities commission.

(c) Those streets and parts of streets described in section 74-277 are declared to be truck traffic routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons.

In accordance with section 74-276 and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, the following streets or portions of streets are declared to be truck traffic routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons:

Alosta Avenue, from Foothill Boulevard to Citrus Avenue.

Arrow Highway, within the city limits.

Aspan Avenue, from First Street to Third Street.

Azusa Avenue and San Gabriel Canyon Road, from northerly city limits to San Gabriel Canyon Road.

Azusa Avenue, from approximately 500 feet north of 13th Street to southerly city limits.

Citrus Avenue, from approximately 600 feet south of Alosta Avenue to Mauna Loa Avenue and from 100 feet more or less north of Baseline Road to 100 feet more or less south of Baseline Road and from 150 feet north of Gladstone Street to 400 feet more or less south of Gladstone Street.

Coney Avenue, from Third Street to Fifth Street.

Coney Avenue, from northerly terminus approximately 800 feet north of Foothill Boulevard to Foothill Boulevard.

Foothill Boulevard, from easterly city limits to westerly city limits.

Georgia Avenue, from Eighth Street to Foothill Boulevard.

Georgia Place, from Eighth Street to Industrial Street.

Gladstone Street, within city limits.

Industrial Street, from Vernon Avenue to Coney Avenue.

Irwindale Avenue, from First Street to Gladstone Street.

Lark Ellen Avenue, from Gladstone Street to southerly city limits.

Loren Avenue, from northerly terminus approximately 1,500 feet north of Foothill Boulevard to Foothill Boulevard.

McKinley Street, from approximately 300 feet east of Irwindale Avenue to Motor Avenue.

Miller Avenue, formerly Lucky Avenue, from Industrial Street to Foothill Boulevard.

Motor Avenue, from First Street to Gladstone Street.

Paramount Street, from approximately 300 feet east of Irwindale Avenue to Motor Avenue.

Peckham Road, from First Street to southerly terminus approximately 600 feet south.

Roosevelt Street, from approximately 300 feet east of Irwindale Avenue to Motor Avenue.

San Gabriel Avenue, from its northerly terminus to Second Street and southeasterly through the Azusa Avenue couplet to Azusa Avenue.

San Gabriel Canyon Road, from northerly city limits to San Gabriel Canyon Road.

Sierra Madre Avenue, from easterly city limits to San Gabriel Avenue.

Vernon Avenue, from Tenth Street to Foothill Boulevard and from Hollyvale Street to First Street.

Virginia Avenue, from Foothill Boulevard to Fifth Street.

Third Street, from west terminus to Vernon Avenue.

Fifth Street, from west terminus to Virginia Avenue.
