2.32.010 - Declaration to receive state aid.

The city declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the state under the provisions of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code.

2.32.020 - Adherence to state standards.

Pursuant to Section 13522 of Chapter 1, the city, while receiving aid from the state pursuant to Chapter 1, will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training established by the State Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Testing.

2.32.025 - Minimum training standards for public safety dispatchers.

The city accepts the requirements of Section 13510(c) of the California Penal Code and will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training established by the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) for public safety dispatchers. Pursuant to California Penal Code Section 13510 the city shall provide such information to the commission as is appropriate for the commission to ascertain that the city adheres to the standards for selection and training established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training for Public Safety Dispatchers.

2.32.030 - Disposition of lost and unclaimed property.

Lost or unclaimed property coming into the possession of the police department pursuant to Civil Code Sections 2080 et seq. shall be disposed of as follows:

(1) Any such property shall be held by the police department for a period of at least four months.

(2) After the expiration of said four-month period, said property shall be transferred to the city manager for sale at public auction except as provided in this subsection. Such property transferred to the city manager shall not be redeemable by the owner or person entitled to possession thereof. If the city manager determines that such property transferred to him for sale is needed for a public use, such property may be used for such public use and need not be sold. In the event there is no public use for any such property, the city manager shall hold a public auction at which such property shall be sold to the highest bidder, with notice of such sale being given at least five days before the time fixed therefor by publication once in a newspaper of general circulation published in the county.

2.32.040 - Carrying of loaded firearms by animal control officers.

With the approval of the chief of police, any animal control officer of the city, when acting in the course and scope of his employment, is authorized to carry a loaded firearm, provided any such person has completed a regular course in firearms training approved by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
