Sec. 4-6.501. Additional units: Inspection.¶
An additional unit, in order to be placed into service, shall have a current statement of safe operating condition and shall be inspected by the California Highway Patrol and the Health and Human Services Agency to determine if it complies with this chapter. (§ 1, Ord. 1515, eff. December 19, 2019)
Sec. 4-6.502. Communication equipment: Requirements.¶
Each ambulance shall have radio access to all three bands (800MHz, VHF, and UHF) for establishing and maintaining radio contact with county dispatch and county hospitals as prescribed by the county and in compliance with Federal Communication Commission regulations. Back up communication with a cellular telephone is acceptable. All communication equipment must meet manufacturers' specifications for power, output, and antenna. (§ 1, Ord. 1515, eff. Sec. 4-6.503. Units: Identification lettering.¶
Each unit shall have printed on each side and the rear thereof, or in the case of an aircraft, on a sign in the window of the aircraft, the unit number and name of the service. The lettering for such identification shall be at least four (4") inches in height. (§ 1, Ord. 1515, eff. December 19, 2019)
Sec. 4-6.504. Units: Sanitary standards.¶
Each unit operated in Yolo County shall be in a clean and sanitary condition subject to such sanitary standards as are prescribed by the LEMSA. (§ 1, Ord. 1515, eff. December 19, 2019)
Sec. 4-6.505. Passengers in ambulances.¶
Relatives of a patient and other persons may ride in an ambulance or medical transport vehicle at the discretion of the attendant(s). Three point restraints for use by each passenger riding in an ambulance or medical transport vehicle must be available in ambulances or medical transport vehicles purchased after the effective date of this chapter. Sec. 4-6.506. Dispatch protocols.¶
Each ambulance company providing service under this chapter shall assign at least one person or an agency to be responsible for receiving calls and dispatching ambulances. The permittee shall have a dispatcher training program that includes prioritizing tasks including, but not limited to: call intake, unit assignment, documentation and reporting; communication equipment; and compliance with the LEMSA Administrative Policy and Field Treatment Guideline Manual covering ambulance service operation, ambulance transport, equipment, ambulance personnel, and standards of dispatch. Dispatchers shall be certified in CPR/AED.
An ambulance service or entity granted an exclusive operating area as part of the LEMSA plan shall adopt dispatch protocols and procedures which must be approved by the LEMSA. Each permittee shall file a copy of its dispatch protocols with the LEMSA. (§ 1, Ord. 1515, eff. December 19, 2019)
