10.48.060 Violation--Penalty.

10.48.010 Established.

These are established through traffic routes for the movement of any motor-driven vehicle with three or more axles, or any combination of vehicles having three or more axles, or any vehicle designed for pulling or drawing trailers or semitrailers or any vehicle over twenty-five tons, as follows:

A. F Street from Poso Drive to State Highway 46;

B. State Highway 43 from Kimerlina Avenue to Poso Drive;

C. Poso Drive east to J Street;

D. J Street north to State Highway 46;

E. Central Valley Highway north from State Highway 46 to city limits;

F. State Highway 46 from easternmost city limit to westernmost city limit. (Ord. 590 §1, 2009; Ord. 197 §1(1), 1974; Ord. 189 §1, 1973).

10.48.020 Points of beginning and termination.

Points of beginning and termination of truck routes are descriptive only and do not indicate direction of travel. (Ord. 197 §1(2), 1974; Ord. 189 §2, 1973).

10.48.030 Signposting.

The superintendent of streets is authorized to designate such streets by appropriate signs as truck routes for the movements of vehicles, as designated in Section 10.48.010. (Ord. 197 §1(3), 1974; Ord. 189 §3, 1973).

10.48.040 Compliance required.

When such truck routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle as designated in Section 10.48.010 of this code, shall drive on such routes and none other, except when necessary to traverse another street or streets to destinations for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, merchandise, freight, or materials and then only by such deviation as is reasonably necessary. In no event shall any person park or leave standing on any street, shoulder, right-of-way, or portion thereof, any motor truck in excess of eighteen feet in length, or any truck tractor, road tractor, or any trailer, semi-trailer, or any single vehicle or compilation of the above having a manufacturer’s gross rating of twelve thousand pounds or more. 10.48.050 Exceptions and applicability of provisions.

Nothing in this chapter shall be constructed to prevent the driving and operation of fire apparatus upon any streets of the city, nor shall this chapter by its terms prevent equipment owned by the city from being operated upon any streets of the city. In addition, the provisions of this chapter shall not apply to:

A. Passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission;

B. Any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility;

C. Any vehicle owned by the United States Government or which is in use for the collection, transportation or delivery of the United States mail;

D. Any commercial vehicle making pickups or deliveries of people, goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on a restricted street or delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure for which a building permit has been obtained prior to such delivery. For the purpose of this chapter, delivery or pickup of passengers shall mean passengers riding on busses or other mass-transit vehicles under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities commission. 10.48.060 Violation--Penalty.

Any vehicle found in violation of this chapter may be impounded by the chief of police or his designee, and stored at the expense of the owner of the vehicle. Any person violating the provisions of this chapter is guilty of an infraction and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by:

A. A fine of not less than one hundred fifty dollars, nor more than five hundred dollars, for a first violation.

B. A fine of not less than two hundred fifty dollars, nor more than five hundred dollars, for any second or sub- sequent violations within one year. (Ord. 365 §1, 1991).
