10.04.130 Time standard, official.

10.04.010 Generally.

A. The following words and phrases, when used in this title, shall for the purposes of this title have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter.

B. Whenever any words or phrases used in this title are not defined in this chapter but are now defined in the vehicle code of this state, such definitions are incorporated in this chapter and shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases used in this chapter as though set forth in full in this chapter. 10.04.020 Alley.

"Alley" means any unnamed street less than twenty-five feet in width between property lines. (Ord. 50 §2, 1951).

10.04.030 Holiday.

"Holiday" means any day designated as such by the Government Code 6700 of the state of California; provided, however, that Saturday afternoon shall not be considered a holiday for the purposes of this title. (Ord. 230 §1(A), 1977; Ord. 50 §16, 1951).

10.04.040 Loading zone.

"Loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials. (Ord. 50 §3, 1951).

10.04.050 Loading zone, passenger.

"Passenger loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers. (Ord. 50 §9, 1951).

10.04.070 Parkway.

"Parkway" means that portion of a street other than a roadway or a sidewalk. (Ord. 50 §8, 1951).

10.04.090 Person.

"Person" means every natural person, firm, co-partnership, association or corporation. (Ord. 50 §11, 1951).

10.04.100 Police officer.

"Police officer" means any person referred to in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2 of the California Penal Code. (Ord. 323 §2, 1987; Ord. 50 §12, 1951).

10.04.130 Time standard, official.

"Official time standard" means whenever certain hours are named in this title standard time or daylight savings time as may be in current use in this city. (Ord. 50 §4, 1951).

10.04.140 Traffic.

"Traffic" means pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles and conveyances, either singly or together, while using any street for purposes of travel. (Ord. 50 §15, 1951).

10.04.150 Traffic--Control devices, official.

"Official traffic-control devices" means all signs, signals, markings and devices not inconsistent with this title, placed or erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction, for the purpose of regulating, warning or guiding traffic. (Ord. 50 §5, 1951).

10.04.160 Traffic signals, official.

"Official traffic signals" means any device, whether manually, electrically or mechanically operated, by which traffic is alternately directed to stop and proceed and which is erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction. (Ord. 50 §6, 1951).

10.04.170 Traffic authority.

"Traffic authority" means an officer of the city designated by the city council, which designation shall be by resolution of said city council. (Ord. 467 §1, 2002).
