Ventura Municipal Code Ch. 2.420 Design Review Committee 12

All members of the design review committee shall have a demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, best practices for design review and urban design. For the five members, qualifications shall be:

A. Two members of the design review committee shall be licensed architects or building design professionals;

B. Two members of the design review committee shall be either a landscape architect, or a design professional such as an urban designer or building designer;

C. One member shall be from the development community, such as a planner or real estate professional;

D. All members of the design review committee shall be able to read and interpret development plans and evaluate the effects of proposed site, architectural or landscape improvements upon the surrounding community. (Ord. No. 2020-023, § 4, 9-28-20; Ord. No. 2021-017, § 2, 12-13-21)

The director of community development, or the designee thereof, shall serve as the committee secretary and custodian of its records but shall have no vote. (Ord. No. 2020-023, § 4, 9-28-20)

The design review committee shall:

A. Review, consider, and provide recommendations for design review applications as required by Chapter 24.545;

B. Upon request of staff or city council, assist with site, architectural or landscape design input and consideration of new or revised design standards or guidelines. (Ord. No. 2020-023, § 4, 9-28-20; Ord. No. 2021-017, § 2, 12-13-21)
