§ 2.41.010. City engineer designated—Superintendent of streets.

The city council shall, by resolution, designate a city engineer for the city who shall be accountable to the city manager. The city engineer so designated shall also be the superintendent of streets for the city.

§ 2.41.020. Duties of city engineer.

In addition to other duties as may be required by law or assigned by the city manager, the city engineer shall:

A. Inspect all construction work done by or for the city and require compliance with contracts pertaining to such work, approve the making of progress payments on construction work done for the city; and file and record notices of completion with the director of administrative services and the county clerk/county recorder of the county of Orange, respectively;

B. Supervise and direct the work pertaining to streets;

C. Study and periodically report to the city manager all traffic engineering problems;

D. Operate and obtain necessary engineering equipment;

E. Supervise the installation and maintenance of traffic controls, signs, and marks;

F. Act as advisor to the planning commission on engineering matters.
