2.40.010 - Holding time—Disposition.¶
All unclaimed property shall be held by the police department of the city for at least four months, except for unclaimed bicycles, which shall be held for at least three months. Should any of such property remain unclaimed by the true owner for such period, it shall thereafter be transferred to the city purchasing and stores agency for sale to the public at public auction; provided, however, that the city purchasing and stores agency may determine that any such property transferred to it for sale is needed for public use and if such determination is made, such property may be retained by the city and need not be sold. The provisions of this section and chapter are specifically made subject to the provisions of Section 2080.3 of the Civil Code of the state, as they presently exist or may hereafter be amended from time to time.

2.40.020 - Purchasing and stores agency designated.¶
The city administrator of the city or his designated representative, is designated as the city's purchasing and stores agency, pursuant to Civil Code Section 2080.4 and other applicable laws.

2.40.030 - Regulations by state code.¶
All property which is subject to the Penal Code of the state and regulated thereby shall be handled in accordance with such provisions, notwithstanding any provisions of this chapter.
