2.14.010 - Created.

There is created within the city the position of code enforcement officer. The city administrator shall designate and appoint an appropriate employee of the city as the code enforcement officer.

2.14.020 - Powers and duties.

The code enforcement officer is authorized, and it shall be his duty, to enforce the provisions of all ordinances, resolutions, rules and regulations of the city. For purposes of this section, the code enforcement officer is authorized to arrest persons for violations of the provisions of any such ordinances or resolutions, to the extent permissible by law, all pursuant to, in accordance with, and subject to the applicable provisions of the California Penal Code including, without limitation, the provisions of Sections 19(d) and 836.5, as well as the applicable provisions of any other state law, all as the same may presently exist or hereafter be amended from time to time.

2.14.030 - Enforcement authority not restricted.

The provisions of Sections 2.14.010 and 2.14.020 of this chapter, shall not in anywise be construed as affecting, limiting or restricting the authority of any other duly authorized employee or officer, including, without limitation, any peace officer of the city to enforce the provisions of any ordinances, resolutions, rules or regulations of the city or to effect or cause the arrest of persons for violations thereof.

2.14.040 - Applicability.

The provisions of this chapter shall apply except to the extent of conflict with or preemption by the provisions of any applicable state law that may presently exist or hereinafter be enacted, in which event the latter shall control.
