"Board," as used in this Chapter, shall mean the Board of Supervisors of the City and County. (Ord. No. 6071 (1939), Sec. 1)

SEC. 2.1-1. POWERS OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS.

The powers of the City and County, except the powers reserved to the people or delegated to other officials, boards or commissions by the Charter, shall be vested in the Board of Supervisors and shall be exercised as provided in the Charter. The exercise of all rights and powers of the City and County when not prescribed in the Charter shall be as provided by ordinance or resolution of the Board of Supervisors. The Supervisors shall determine the maximum number of each class of employment in each of the various departments and offices of the City and County and shall fix rates and schedules of compensation therefor in the manner provided in the Charter. On the recommendation of the Mayor, the Board of Supervisors may create or abolish departments which are now or may hereafter be placed under the Mayor or under commissions appointed by the Mayor. The Board of Supervisors may, by ordinance, confer on any officer, board or commission such other and additional powers as the Board may deem advisable.
