INSPECTION OF RESIDENTIAL DWELLING UNITS

15.12.010 General.¶

The director may, upon proper request, make a visual inspection of residential structures within the city to determine if such structures comply with the applicable sections of this code and any other section of the city code which govern the construction, alteration, or repair of residential buildings. 15.12.020 Request for inspections.¶

A request for an inspection made pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall be made by the owner of the structure to be inspected. Such request shall be in writing and shall be submitted on a form provided by the director. (Prior code § 9.14.481)

15.12.030 Certification of inspection results.¶

If the structure is found to be in compliance with all city code requirements, the director may, if requested to do so by the owner, execute a certificate stating the structure has met all applicable city code requirements, and all other sections of the city code which are applicable to the construction, alteration or repair of buildings. If the structure is found to be not in compliance with all city code requirements, the director shall provide the owner with a detailed statement indicating the reason why such structure does not so comply. Any certificate or statement issued under this chapter shall be based upon a visual inspection of the structure and the director shall not be required to certify as to items or defects which would not be readily visible. 15.12.040 Fees.¶

The fees for inspection made pursuant to this section shall be as established by resolution of the city council and shall be due and payable at the time the request for an inspection is filed pursuant to Section 15.12.020 of this chapter. (Prior code § 9.14.483)
