Redwood City Municipal Code Art. II Copies or Extracts of Public Records

The City Clerk, upon demand of any person, shall prepare copies or extracts from any public record of the City in accordance with the provisions of this Article.

In the event the public record is not on file with the City Clerk, the officer having custody of the record shall furnish it to the City Clerk for the purpose of preparing the copy or extract.

In the event the record is of a nature that cannot be copied by the City Clerk, the Clerk may cause the copies to be prepared by another government agency or by any firm engaged in the business of preparing such copies.

Fees for the preparation of copies or extracts of public records, certifying to copies thereof or providing other documents in the Clerk's custody shall be established by resolution of the City Council.

No fee shall be charged by the Clerk for services rendered in connection with a criminal action.

No fee shall be charged by the Clerk for service rendered to any municipality or county or the State or United States Government.

The Clerk may require any person requesting the preparation of a copy or extract to pay the fee therefor in advance or deposit the amount of the estimated fee in the event the fee cannot be determined.
