3235 - Traffic engineer to establish marked crosswalks.¶
(a) The Traffic Engineer shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at intersections and other places by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway where the Traffic Engineer determines that there is particular hazard to pedestrians crossing the roadway subject to the limitation contained in (b) of this section.
(b) Other than crosswalks at intersections, no crosswalk shall be established in any block which is less than four hundred (400) feet in length except by direction of the City Manager.
(c) The Traffic Engineer may place signs at or adjacent to an intersection in respect to any crosswalk directing that pedestrians shall not cross except in the crosswalk so indicated.
3236 - When pedestrians must use crosswalks.¶
No pedestrian shall cross a roadway, other than in a crosswalk or at an intersection, if no crosswalk has been established.
3237 - Crossing at right angles.¶
No pedestrian shall cross a roadway at any place other than by a route at right angles to the curb or by the shortest route to the opposite curb except in a marked crosswalk.
3238 - Standing in roadways.¶
No person shall stand in any roadway other than in a safety zone or in a crosswalk if such action interferes with the lawful movement of traffic. This section shall not apply to any public officer or employee, or employee of a public utility when necessarily upon a street in line of duty.
