Sec. 4-3.201. - Weight inspection.

(a) Any peace officer having any reason to believe that the weight of a vehicle and load is in excess of the legal limits set forth in this article is hereby authorized to require the driver of such vehicle to submit to a weighing of the vehicle on the nearest legal scales within the County.

(b) Whenever any such officer finds that such weight is unlawful, the driver shall remove such portion of the load as may be necessary to reduce the gross limit to the legal limits. All materials so unloaded shall be cared for by the owner or driver of such vehicle at the risk of such owner or driver.

Sec. 4-3.202. - Vehicles in excess of 14,000 pounds: Lake Davis Road.

It shall be unlawful for any person to use a commercial vehicle exceeding a gross weight of 14,000 pounds on the Lake Davis Road, more particularly described as that road extending from the intersection of West Street and State Highway 70 in Portola, California, running northerly to Forest Service Road 24N10. Grizzly Road is hereby designated as an alternate route for such commercial vehicular traffic.

The provisions of this section shall not apply to the use of commercial vehicles in transporting items to or from locations inaccessible to State Highway 70 except by way of Lake Davis Road or to vehicles which must use Lake Davis Road for the purpose of servicing utilities or providing emergency fire or police protection.

It shall be unlawful for any person to use a commercial vehicle exceeding a gross weight of 14,000 pounds on that portion of County Road P414, known as the Spanish Ranch Butte County Road (also known as Bucks Lake Road), which lies between Haskins Creek and Bucks Creek. Big Creek Road is hereby designated as an alternate route for such commercial vehicular traffic.

Sec. 4-3.205. - Vehicles in excess of 14,000 pounds: Portion of County Road 417.

It shall be unlawful for any person to use a commercial vehicle exceeding a gross weight of 14,000 pounds on that portion of County Road 417 between State Route 70 and the west line of Section 27, Township 25 North, Range 9 East, M.D.M., a length of approximately 0.8 mile. County Road 420 and Forest Service Roads 25N44 and 25N52 are hereby designated as alternate routes for such commercial vehicular traffic.

Sec. 4-3.206. - Temporary suspension of load limits.

The Road Commissioner may temporarily suspend any load limit established by this article.
