Oceanside Municipal Code Art. IV Extension of Sewer Mains

Editor's note— Ord. No. 13-OR0736-1, § 4, adopted Nov. 20, 2013, repealed § 29.24, which pertained to an environmental mitigation surcharge and derived from Ord. Code, § 8351; Ord No. 85-32, § 13, adopted Nov. 13, 1985; and Ord. No. 12-OR0783-1, § 4, Nov. 28, 2012.

The application provided for in section 29.24 shall then be referred to the city engineering department; and the city engineer shall then make an estimate of the cost of the proposed extension which shall be submitted to the applicant.

The applicant may then either:

Deposit with city; refund. Deposit with the water utilities department the amount estimated by the engineer and request the water utilities department to proceed with the construction of the requested extension, and the water utilities department upon completion of such extension shall refund to the applicant any money in excess of the cost of construction of the sewer main extension.

Work by contractor; supervision by city. The applicant may make or cause such extension to be made by a competent contractor; but all such work shall be done under the supervision of the city engineer, and the applicant shall pay to the city all reasonable costs of inspection which shall be determined by the city engineer.

Posting of bond. The applicant shall also post a faithful performance bond with the city to guarantee the completion of such work and pay such damages that may be caused to public right-of-way as a result of such construction.

All sewer mains shall be designed and constructed according to City of Oceanside Engineers Manual, sections 223-00 and 224-00.
