16-20 Collection To Be Provided By City 16-21 Placing Of Rubbish For Collection 16-22 Limitation On Amounts To Be Collected

16-20 Collection To Be Provided By City

The city shall provide for the collection and removal of the following:

  1. Noncombustible rubbish from all places of business once each week and from all other places or premises once every two weeks.
  2. Combustible rubbish from all places of business applying for such service twice a week, three times a week or once each day, except on Sundays, and from all other places or premises once each week. (Ord. 308 N.S.)

16-21 Placing Of Rubbish For Collection

  1. The city shall collect and remove from all places or premises rubbish in receptacles placed along the street curb in front thereof or along the alley in the rear thereof, depending upon whether the prescribed route is along the street or alley, except as may be otherwise permitted under provisions of this chapter. The city shall also collect and remove from all places or premises rubbish which ha been placed for collection and which by reason of its character it is impracticable to place in such receptacles.
  2. No person shall place or cause to be placed any rubbish receptacle or rubbish in any public highway or alley at any place or in any manner other than as is provided in this section, or at any time other than on the days established by the city manager for collection of rubbish on the particular route or after six p.m. on the days immediately prior to such collections, or permit such a receptacle to remain thereat for more than twelve hours after it has been emptied.
  3. All rubbish containers shall have the street number and place receiving service marked thereon in legible figures at least two inches high. Such rubbish containers shall not be taken by the collector. All other rubbish receptacles not so marked may be taken by the collector.
  4. All tree trimmings and shrub trimmings shall be cut into lengths of not more than two feet and placed in a rubbish container or cut into lengths of not more than three feet and securely tied and in bundles not to exceed twelve inches in diameter. Rose and berry wine clippings shall be placed in rubbish containers to be taken by the collector. All cratings shall be broken and bundled in lengths not to exceed three feet. Papers and magazines shall either be placed in rubbish containers or tied in bundles. (Ord. 256 N.S.; Ord. 308 N.S.)

16-22 Limitation On Amounts To Be Collected

  1. No person in charge of any place of business which is paying only a minimum charge for collection of rubbish shall set out or cause to be set out for collection during any one week, more than thirty gallons of combustible and noncombustible rubbish. If collection of additional quantities of rubbish is desired, application shall first be made for additional service.
    1. No person in charge of any place or premises other than a place of business shall set out or cause to be set out for collection during any one week more than thirty gallons of rubbish per dwelling or dwelling unit on such place or premises. If collection of additional quantities of rubbish is desired, arrangements shall be made in advance for such special services, such service to be charged for at rates specified elsewhere in this article.
