SEC. 40.22. - Intentional falsification.¶
No person shall activate an alarm system for the purpose of summoning police except in the event of what is reasonably believed to be an unauthorized entry on the premises for purposes of carrying out a robbery, burglary or other unlawful act therein.

SEC. 40.23. - Siren sounds.¶
No person shall install or use an alarm system which, upon activation, emits a sound similar to a siren in use on emergency vehicles or for civil defense purposes.

SEC. 40.24. - Maintenance of alarm system which constitutes a public nuisance.¶
No person shall use or maintain in operation any alarm system or device which constitutes a public nuisance as defined in Section 40.16(2) of this chapter.

SEC. 40.25. - Violations of orders, standards or regulations.¶
a. No person shall fail to comply with the terms of any suspension or revocation order issued by the chief of police.
b. No person shall violate any of the standards and regulations adopted by the chief of police pursuant to Section 40.11 of this chapter regarding alarm systems installed in the City of Mountain View. In enforcing the provisions of this chapter, the city may use any remedies available under this code.

SEC. 40.27. - Nonliability.¶
Every person or entity who uses and/or relies upon an alarm system for the security of a premises has an affirmative obligation to operate and maintain that system in good working order.
Nothing in this chapter shall create or be construed to create a duty upon the police department or city to respond to any alarm whether or not the alarm was false, nor shall the city or police department be held liable to the alarm user or third party for nonresponse during a suspension or revolution of the alarm. An alarm, like any other request for service from the police department, may be responded to within the resources of the police department at the time of the alarm.
