Mountain View Municipal Code Div. 6 Parking Meters

The city council shall, by resolution, establish parking meter zones, including therein such streets or portions of streets or city-owned or city-leased land as it may deem necessary for traffic or parking control purposes, and in the event parking meters are installed as herein provided adjacent to any parking meter space in such zone, the provisions of this division shall govern parking in such parking meter spaces.

The city traffic engineer is hereby authorized and directed to install meters in all parking meter zones hereby established, or hereafter created.

The denomination of the coin or coins that shall be deposited in parking meters, the parking time allowed following deposit of such coins, the hours during which such deposits are required, the fee that may be charged for the use of a parking meter space not on a street, and the directions which shall appear on the parking meter shall be such as may be prescribed by the city council by resolution.

When any vehicle shall be parked in any space alongside or next to which a parking meter is located in accordance with the provisions of this division, the operator of such vehicle, upon so parking, shall, and it shall be unlawful to fail to, deposit immediately the required coins of the United States in such parking meter and put such meter into operation.

Commercial vehicles may park in parking meter zones to load or unload merchandise without depositing coins for a period not to exceed twenty (20) minutes. No person shall park a commercial vehicle in a parking meter zone for a period longer than twenty (20) minutes without depositing coins as provided in this division.
