SEC. 19.58. - Truck traffic in city—Outside origin.

Operation of truck traffic originating outside the city shall be as follows:

(1) Outside destination. All trucks entering the city for destination points outside the city shall operate only over a truck route as herein established or other unrestricted streets.

(2) One inside destination point. All trucks entering the city for one destination point in the city shall proceed only over a truck route as herein established, and shall deviate therefrom only by the shortest and most direct route between the destination point and the nearest truck route. Upon leaving the destination point, a deviating truck shall return to the nearest truck route or unrestricted street by the shortest route.

(3) Multiple inside destination points. All trucks entering the city for multiple destination points shall proceed over a truck route only as herein established, and shall deviate therefrom only by the shortest and most direct route between the first destination point and the nearest truck route. Upon leaving the first destination point, a deviating truck shall proceed to the other destination points by the shortest route. Upon leaving the last destination point a deviating truck shall return to the nearest truck route or unrestricted street by the shortest route.

Nothing shall prohibit a truck from entering the city from an unrestricted street for a destination point in the city by the shortest and most direct route between the destination point and the nearest unrestricted street, provided such route is in fact shorter than that required to be followed in the preceding two sub-sections.

SEC. 19.59. - Same—Inside origin.

Operation of truck traffic originating inside the city shall be as follows:

(1) Outside destination point. All trucks, on a trip originating in the city and traveling in the city for a destination point outside the city, shall proceed by the shortest route to the nearest truck route as herein established, or unrestricted street.

(2) Inside destination points. All trucks, on a trip originating in the city and traveling in the city for a destination point in the city, shall proceed to such destination point by the shortest route.

SEC. 19.60. - Streets enumerated.

The following named streets are hereby declared to be truck routes for the movement of trucks, and the director of public works is hereby authorized to designate such streets by appropriate signs as "TRUCK ROUTES":

Street Portions
Bayshore Freeway All portions within the city limits.
Castro Street From Evelyn Avenue to the Central Expressway.
Central Expressway All portions within the city limits.
Charleston Road Between the westerly city limits and Bayshore Freeway.
El Camino Real All portions within the city limits.
Evelyn Avenue From Castro Street to Bernardo Avenue.
Moffett Boulevard From Central Expressway to Bayshore Freeway.
Mountain View-Alviso Road All portions within the city limits.
San Antonio Road All portions within the city limits.
Stevens Creek Freeway All portions within the city limits.
Whisman Road Central Expressway to Mountain View-Alviso Road.

SEC. 19.60.1. - Authority to require weighing of vehicle.

Any police officer shall have the authority to require any person driving or in control of any commercial vehicle not proceeding over a truck route to proceed to any public or private scale available for the purpose of weighing and determining whether this article has been complied with.

SEC. 19.61. - Exceptions to article.

The provisions of this article shall not apply to passenger busses under the jurisdiction of the public utilities commission or to any vehicle owned or operated by the city, public utilities, any contractor or materialman while engaged in the repair, maintenance or construction of streets, street improvements, or street utilities within the city, or to any authorized emergency vehicles.
