9.20.130 - Construction inspections.¶
The Director of Public Works may inspect, as often as he/she deems necessary, every main line sewer, building lateral, building sewer, wastewater pretreatment system, interceptor, and other appurtenances to the City sewer system to ascertain whether such facilities under construction are being installed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

9.20.140 - Inspections—Notice of readiness.¶
Immediately after work is ready for inspection and at least 24 hours before an inspection is to be made, the permittee shall request such inspection by the City Engineer.

9.20.150 - Inspections—Convenience of work to be inspected.¶
At the time of the inspection, the permittee shall have all work uncovered and convenient, giving the City Engineer the opportunity to make a thorough examination. The permittee shall apply air pressure tests as required by the document entitled "Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction."

9.20.160 - Inspections—Prior removal of obstructions.¶
If any pipes are enclosed or covered in any way which obstructs a thorough inspection of the sewer construction or installation and the City Engineer notifies the permittee to remove such obstruction(s), the City Engineer need not inspect the work until such obstruction(s) are removed.

9.20.170 - Inspections—Tests, labor and equipment.¶
The permittee shall furnish all labor, tools and materials necessary for all tests, and the permittee or his/her representative shall be present at the job site at the time the inspection is made.

9.20.180 - Inspections—Prior connection of facilities.¶
In the event a building lateral, building sewer, interceptor, pretreatment system, or other appurtenance to the City sewer system is placed in use and fails to pass inspection, the permittee shall have a period of time as determined by the City Engineer in which to make the construction conform to the requirements of this chapter. Failure to do so shall constitute a violation of this chapter.

9.20.190 - Correction of defects.¶
If the City Engineer notifies a permittee that any work is defective, either in its construction or material, the permittee shall reconstruct or remove such work, causing conformance to the provisions of this chapter within a period of time as determined by the City Engineer.

9.20.200 - Maintenance of building sewers, building laterals, wastewater pretreatment…¶
Building sewers, building laterals, wastewater pretreatment systems, gravity-separation interceptors, and related appurtenances shall be maintained by the owners thereof in a safe and sanitary condition; all devices or safeguards which are required by the provisions of this chapter for the operation of such facilities shall be maintained in good working order. The provisions of this chapter shall not be construed as permitting the removal or nonmaintenance of any devices or safeguards on existing facilities unless authorized in writing by the Director of Public Works.
