Maywood Municipal Code Ch. 14 Oil, Oil Products, and Gas

Except as provided in Section 5-14.02 of this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person to mine or drill for oil or gas or set up, install, or erect any machine or machinery of any kind or nature for the purpose of mining, drilling, or prospecting for oil or oil products or gas in the City.

The Council may issue a permit for the purpose of allowing geophysical surveys, or work necessarily incident thereto, in the City. Such permit shall contain such conditions as the Council deems necessary in order to safeguard the lives or property of the citizens of the City in the making of such surveys and may require such liability insurance to be provided as it deems necessary. Such permit shall be for a period of time not exceeding three (3) months and shall be granted only to such persons as the Council considers responsible in the making of such surveys.

Except as required for the surveys permitted by the provisions of Section 5-14.02 of this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person to maintain any machinery or equipment for the purpose of drilling or mining for any oil or oil products or gas in the City.
