4.64.010 - Repealed.¶
Repealed § 1, Ord. 1202, eff. February 19, 1970
4.64.020 - Destruction of moss, grass, flowers, shrubs and trees.¶
Except as may be authorized by the provisions of Section 7.28.040, it shall be unlawful for any person to walk upon, tramp upon, tear up or destroy any moss, grass, flowers, shrubs or trees planted upon or in any public place or parkway in the City.

4.64.030 - Planting trees and shrubs.¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to plant, cause or permit to be planted any tree or shrub in, upon or along any public street or other public place of the City unless the same is planted between the property line and the curb line and within two feet (2′) of the outer curb line.

4.64.040 - Defacing of trees and shrubs.¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to paint, tack, paste or otherwise place or cause to be painted, tacked, pasted or otherwise placed any advertisement, notice, card or announcement of any printed or written matter of any kind whatsoever upon any tree or shrub situated in any public street, avenue or other public place in the City.

4.64.050 - Injury to public property.¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to cut, break, destroy, remove, deface, tamper with, mar, injure, disfigure, interfere with, damage, tear, remove, change or alter any:
A. Part of any building belonging to the City;
B. Drinking fountain situated on any public street or sidewalk or any appliance used in or about such fountain;
C. 1.
Electric or gas lamp erected or suspended on or over any street, sidewalk or park and used in the lighting thereof, or any wire or other apparatus immediately attached to such lamp,
- Any lamp standard or lamp pole, nor attach thereto any banner, pennant, streamer, flag, sign, picture, wire, rope or other attachment of any kind for any purpose without first obtaining a permit to do so, as required by Section 9.56.010 of this Code;
D. Parts or appurtenance of the telegraph system, lamp post, parking meter, street sign post, post, standard, or pole or any fixture or apparatus used about or in connection with any such post, meter, standard, system or pole;
E. Public bridge, parking lot, street, walkway, sidewalk, stairway or other public right of way or any portion thereof;
F. Water main, pipe, conduit, hydrant, reservoir or ditch, or to tap the same without permission of the City;
G. Water meter or any box containing any pipe, stop-cock or cut-off valve of the City or cover the same with earth, brick, stone, mortar, debris, or building material;
H. Tree, shrub, tree stake or guard in any public street, or affix or attach in any manner any other thing whatsoever, including any guy wire or rope, to any tree, shrub, tree stake or guard except for the purpose of protecting it or unless otherwise authorized by this Code;
I. Property owned by any public utility located on any street or sidewalk;
J. Other property owned or leased by the City, the County of Los Angeles, the State of California or the United States government or any political subdivision or department thereof, and not specifically enumerated in this section; and
K. Public document, notice or advertisement or any private or legal document required to be posted or exhibited in the manner and place provided by law, or any copy of any ordinance posted in any public building or place, or on private property when such public notice or ordinance is required by law to be placed or posted thereon.

4.64.060 - Prohibition of spray paint in public parks and buildings.¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to have in his or her possession any pressurized can containing any substance commonly known as paint or dye while in any public building, public park, playground, swimming pool, or recreational facility, including the beach and The Strand, except authorized employees of the City of Manhattan Beach or an individual or authorized employee of an individual or company under contract with or permit from the City of Manhattan Beach.

4.64.070 - Interference with dogs utilized by the Police Department prohibited.¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to willfully tease, taunt, torment, strike, kick, mutilate, disable, or otherwise injure, or kill, or to interfere or meddle with any dog while such animal is being utilized by the Police Department, or any officer or employee thereof, in the performance of any function or duty of said department, or of such officer or employee.

4.64.080 - Sale of aerosol paint containers—Storage requirements.¶
Any business or establishment offering for sale to the public aerosol paint containers of six (6) ounces or less shall keep, store and maintain such aerosol paint containers in a place that is locked and secure or otherwise made unavailable to the public.
