10.40.090 Obedience to Barriers and Signs.¶

10.40.010 Driving through Funeral Procession.¶
No operator of any vehicle shall drive between the vehicles comprising a funeral procession or a parade; provided, that such vehicles are conspicuously so designated. (Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)
10.40.020 Clinging to Moving Vehicle.¶
No person shall attach themselves with their hands, or catch on or hold onto with their hands or by other means, to any moving vehicle for the purpose of receiving motive power therefrom. (Ord. 1062 § 14, 2022; Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)
10.40.030 New Pavement and Markings.¶
No person shall ride or drive any animal or any vehicle over or across any newly made pavement or freshly painted markings in any street when a barrier sign, cone marker or other warning device is in place warning persons not to drive over or across such pavement or marking, or when any such device is in place indicating that the street or any portion thereof is closed. 10.40.040 Use of Coasters, Roller Skates, Bicycles and Toy Vehicles.¶
A. Bicycles may be ridden on city sidewalks, with the following exceptions:
1. Magnolia Avenue, from Madrone Avenue to Doherty Drive;
2. Bon Air Shopping Center;
B. It is unlawful for any person to go upon any roadway, or street, upon roller skates, or riding in, or by means of, any coaster, toy vehicle or similar device. (Ord. 1069 § 19, 2023; Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 650 § 1, 1980; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)
10.40.050 Bicycle and Pedestrian Lanes.¶
Bicycle and pedestrian lanes are established. The bicycle and pedestrian lanes shall be appropriately signed and it is unlawful for any person to operate or park any motor vehicle (including, without limitation, an automobile, motorcycle, motor scooter and motorized two- and three-wheel vehicles) upon the bicycle and pedestrian lanes, except maintenance and emergency vehicles. It is unlawful for any person to ride or walk any horse upon the bicycle and pedestrian lanes. (Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)
10.40.060 No Entrance into Intersection That Would Obstruct Traffic.¶
No operator of any vehicle shall enter any intersection or a marked crosswalk unless there is sufficient space on the other side of the intersection or crosswalk to accommodate the vehicle they are operating without obstructing the passage of other vehicles or pedestrians, notwithstanding any traffic-control signal indication to proceed. 10.40.070 Riding or Driving on Sidewalk.¶
No person shall ride, drive, propel or cause to be propelled any vehicle or animal across or upon any sidewalk excepting over permanently constructed driveways and excepting when it is necessary for any temporary purpose to drive a loaded vehicle across a sidewalk; provided further, that said sidewalk area be substantially protected by wooden planks two (2) inches thick, and written permission be previously obtained from the City Traffic Engineer. Such wooden planks shall not be permitted to remain upon such sidewalk area during the hours from six p.m. to six a.m. (Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)
10.40.080 Commercial Vehicles Using Private Driveways.¶
No person shall operate or drive a commercial vehicle in, on or across any private driveway approach or sidewalk area or the driveway itself without the consent of the owner or occupant of the property, if a sign or markings are in place indicating that the use of such driveway is prohibited.
For the purpose of this section, a commercial vehicle shall mean a vehicle having a rated capacity in excess of one- half ton. (Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)
10.40.090 Obedience to Barriers and Signs.¶
No person, public utility or department in the City shall erect or place any barrier or sign on any street unless of a type approved by the City Traffic Engineer or disobey the instructions, remove, tamper with or destroy and barrier or sign lawfully placed on any street by any person, public utility or by any department of this City.
