10.36.010 City Traffic Engineer to Erect Stop Signs.

Whenever any ordinance or resolution of this City designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a through street, or any intersection that the City Traffic Engineer, after appropriate study and surveys, finds that placement of stop signs is necessary for the safe and orderly flow of traffic, or any railroad grade crossing at which vehicles are required to stop, the City Traffic Engineer shall erect and maintain stop signs as follows:

A stop sign shall be erected on each and every street intersecting such through street or portion thereof so designated and at those entrances to other intersections where a stop is required and at any railroad grade crossing so designated; provided, however, stop signs shall not be erected or maintained at any entrance to an intersection when such entrance is controlled by an official traffic control signal. Every such sign shall conform with, and shall be placed as provided in, the Vehicle Code. (Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)

10.36.020 Emerging from Alley, Driveway or Building.

The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any alleyway or driveway. (Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)

10.36.030 Yield Right-of-Way Signs.1

When deemed necessary for the orderly and safe movement of traffic by the City Traffic Engineer, they may erect a yield right-of-way sign at the approaches to an intersection of streets and highways under its jurisdiction which are not through highways, but such yield right-of-way sign shall not be erected upon the approaches to more than one of the intersecting streets. Any person failing to yield the right-of-way pursuant to a posted sign as provided herein is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 1062 § 14, 2022; Ord. 1030 § 2(8), 2018; Ord. 526 § 1 (part), 1975)
