§ 17.53.010. Keeping—Prohibited—Exceptions. ¶
No person shall keep or maintain, or permit the keeping of, upon any premises owned, occupied or controlled by such person, any horse, bovine, swine, barnyard fowl, or wild animal within any residential R district on any parcels less than one acre in area, except as provided herein. § 17.53.020. Fowl—Keeping requirements. ¶
Subject to first securing a use permit, keeping of fowl of any kind may be permitted in any R district on parcels of land of not less than one acre for each twenty such fowl and further provided that any such fowl shall be confined to pens.

§ 17.53.030. Domestic animals—Keeping requirements. ¶
Subject to obtaining a use permit, keeping of adult domestic animals, such as cows, horses, sheep, burros, with their immature offspring, is permitted in any R district on parcels of land of not less than one acre in area. Two adult animals and their immature offspring may be kept on one-acre parcels. An additional two adult animals and their immature offspring may be kept on each additional acre of land.

§ 17.53.040. Stables, coops and pens—Location and sanitary requirements. ¶
Stables, corrals, coops, pens and similar buildings incidental to the keeping of such animals are permitted provided that none shall be located nearer than one hundred feet from the front lot line or fifty feet to any existing dwelling. Anything to the contrary notwithstanding, the keeping of any animals shall be in a neat, clean and sanitary manner; it is the intention that no nuisance, private or public, be maintained.

§ 17.53.050. Number of animals permitted. ¶
It is unlawful for any owner or tenant of any building site within the city to keep, harbor or maintain, or to permit any other person to keep, harbor or maintain, more than four small animal adult pets such as dogs, cats, rabbits or fowl, nor shall any combination thereof exceed a total of four, on any building site of six thousand feet of area or less. On building sites in excess of six thousand feet of area, one additional small animal pet shall be permitted for each additional four thousand square feet of building site area. It is further declared a nuisance to keep, harbor or maintain, or to permit any person to keep, harbor or maintain more than the permitted number of adult small animals, or any combination thereof, on any building site within the city. The keeping of roosters (male fowl) is prohibited.
In no case shall the number of dogs allowed to be kept on a building site exceed the number provided in Title 9 , Animals, of the King City Municipal Code. This section does not apply to authorized veterinary hospitals.

§ 17.53.060. Noisy or annoying behavior prohibited. ¶
No person shall keep or maintain, or permit the keeping of, upon any premises owned, occupied or controlled by such person any animal or fowl otherwise permitted to be kept which, by any sound, cry or behavior, shall cause annoyance or discomfort to a reasonable person of normal sensitiveness in any residential neighborhood.

§ 17.53.070. Enforcement authority. ¶
It shall be the duty of the chief of police, or his agent, or such agency so designated by a joint powers agreement entered into between the city and any other public agency, to enforce the regulations set forth in Chapter 17.48 of this title.
