§ 2.38.010. Creation.

There is created for the county of Inyo a planning department. (Ord. 277 § 1, 1975)

§ 2.38.020. Duties.

The planning department shall furnish the following services:

  • A. Provision of planning services to the planning commission;

  • B. Enforcement of the zoning ordinance;

  • C. Receipt and processing of land division applications;

  • D. Assistance to planning commission and other departments in complying with environmental laws;

  • E. Such other services as may from time to time be assigned to the department by the board of supervisors or county administrative officer.

§ 2.38.030. Director—Appointment—Duties.

  • A. The director of planning shall be the administrative head of the planning department and shall be a person qualified by training, experience and demonstrated ability to manage the affairs of the planning department.

  • B. The director shall be appointed by a majority of the board of supervisors at any regular meeting of the board of supervisors.

  • C. The director shall have sole supervision and jurisdiction over personnel engaged in departmental work.

  • D. The director shall report directly to the county administrative officer in all administrative matters.
