SEC. 14-1601. - AUTHORITY OF DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION.

(a) The Director of Parks and Recreation is hereby authorized and directed to post and maintain appropriate signs indicating that parking is limited or prohibited on any park drive, park road, or at any other place within parks, playgrounds, and recreation areas owned or controlled by the city during such hours or on such days or both as is necessary for the safety of the public or the reasonable use or enjoyment by the public of the park, playground, or recreation area; and whenever such authorized signs are in place giving notice thereon that parking is limited or prohibited during such hours or on such days as are indicated on the signs, no person shall park any vehicle, motor vehicle, or motorcycle at any time during such hours or on such days or for any length of time prohibited as indicated by such signs. All signs shall conform with standards established by the City Traffic Engineer.

SEC. 14-1602. - SADDLE HORSES IN PARKS.

No person shall lead, ride, or drive any horse on any place in a park or playground other than upon roads or paths designated and posted as a "Bridle Path", except that roads not designated as a bridle path may be crossed at crossings designated and posted therefore by the Director of Parks and Recreation.

SEC. 14-1603. - VEHICLES AND BICYCLES IN PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS.

No operator of a vehicle or a bicycle shall drive same in any part of a park or playground other than upon roads or drives provided for such purposes.

SEC. 14-1604. - COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IN PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS.

No operator of any commercial vehicle carrying merchandise or materials shall drive same upon any road or drive in a park or playground except when same is being done for the improvement of the park and at the direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation.

SEC. 14-1605. - TOWING OF VEHICLES.

No person shall tow any vehicle of any kind in any park, except that, in case of breakdowns within a park, a disabled vehicle may be towed to the nearest point of exit and, pursuant to a request from any member of the Police Department authorized by the Police Chief or any member of the Park Police authorized by the Parks and Recreation Director, a vehicle found to be in violation of any section of this chapter which authorizes the towing of any vehicle in violation of such section may be towed from any such park or from any recreation facility to a public garage.
