10.24.010 - Definitions.¶
As used in this chapter:
"Bicycle" means every device propelled wholly or in part by muscular power upon which a person may ride, having two or more tandem wheels, any one of which is fourteen (14) inches in diameter or greater.
"Business district" means that portion of Dunsmuir Avenue beginning at Spruce Street to three hundred twenty-five (325) feet south of Cedar Street, Sacramento Avenue beginning at Willow Street to three hundred twenty-five (325) feet south of Cedar Street (Butterfly Avenue), plus Pine and Cedar Streets between Dunsmuir and Sacramento Avenues.
"Toy vehicle" means all other propelled objects, regardless of motive power, not classified as bicycles within this chapter, nor as vehicles within the Vehicle Code of the state, and specifically includes, but is not limited to, roller skates, skateboards, coasters, scooters, sleds and unicycles.

10.24.020 - Operating restrictions.¶
A. Riding on Sidewalk. No person shall ride a bicycle upon any sidewalk or walkway within the city, nor shall any person ride any toy vehicle upon any sidewalk or walkway within any business district or adjacent to any place of public assembly or any city park(s).
B. Passengers. No person shall ride any bicycle or toy vehicle upon any public right-of-way while carrying a passenger unless such bicycle or toy vehicle has been specifically built to carry such passenger.
C. Clinging. No person while operating or riding upon any bicycle or toy vehicle shall attach himself or his vehicle to any other moving vehicle or person in any other moving vehicle.
D. Racing. No person riding or operating any bicycle or toy vehicle upon any public right-of-way shall participate in any race, speed or endurance contest unless such contest has the specific permission of the chief of police and is under proper supervision.
E. Trick Riding. No person riding or operating any bicycle or toy vehicle upon any public right-of-way shall perform or attempt to perform any acrobatics, fancy or stunt riding of any nature.
F. Parking. No person shall park any bicycle or toy vehicle on or in any public right-of-way so as to in any way present an obstruction or a hazard to any pedestrian, traffic, vehicle or property.
G. Mechanical Condition. No person shall ride or operate any bicycle or toy vehicle unless such bicycle or toy vehicle is in safe mechanical condition.
H. Toy Vehicles on Business District Streets. No person shall ride a toy vehicle within the business district of Dunsmuir on any roadway.
I. Business District Defined. The "business district," as used in this chapter, means that portion of Dunsmuir Avenue beginning three hundred twenty-five (325) feet south of Cedar Street north to Spruce Street, plus Pine Street between Shasta Avenue and Sacramento Avenue, plus Cedar Street between Dunsmuir Avenue and Sacramento Avenue, plus Sacramento Avenue between Willow Street and Cedar Street.

10.24.030 - Enforcement—Generally.¶
Any deputy sheriff of the county of Siskiyou or any peace officer defined generally under Section 830 of the California Penal Code, shall have the authority to enforce the provisions of this chapter.

10.24.040 - Violation—Penalty.¶
Violation of any provision of this chapter is an infraction punishable by a fine as set forth in California Government Code Section 36900(b). This amount is currently not exceeding more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) for a first violation, and for a second violation of the same ordinance within one year by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars ($200.00) and for each additional violation of the same ordinance within one year, by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00).
