Delano Municipal Code Ch. 6.40 Hotel Registration

Whenever any person, persons, firm or corporation keeps, maintains, conducts or runs any hotel, rooming house, lodging house or habitation where rooms are rented for lodging purposes, or keeps, maintains, conducts or runs any auto and trailer park, such person, persons, firm or corporation must provide a book for the registration of all persons who occupy rooms in such hotel, rooming house, lodging house or habitation, or space in such auto and trailer park.

It is unlawful for any such person, persons, firm or corporation to rent, let or lease to or permit to be occupied by any person or persons any room or rooms in any hotel, rooming house or lodging house or habitation, or space in any auto and trailer park unless such person or persons shall first sign their name and address, with date of such signing, in the register kept for that purpose; provided however, that whenever there are two or more persons in one party, such registration may be made by any one of the party designated to so sign, by in every instance the name and address of all persons in such party, together with date of entry, must be entered upon such register.

Such register must at all times be open for inspection by the chief of police or any other person authorized to examine the same.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding three hundred dollars or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
