1-2 DEFINITIONS.

As used in this Code:

Code shall mean the Code of the Town of Danville.

County shall mean the County of Contra Costa.

Day shall mean the period of time between any midnight and the midnight following.

Daytime, nighttime . “Daytime” shall mean the period of time between sunrise and sunset. “Nighttime” shall mean the period of time between sunset and sunrise.

Licensed shall mean licensed in accordance with the appropriate section or chapter of this Code.

Month shall mean a calendar month unless otherwise specifically provided.

Oath shall mean and include affirmation.

Officials, officers, departments, etc . Whenever reference is made to officials, boards, commissions, departments or other municipal agents by title only, such reference shall be read as though followed by the words “of the Town of Danville, California”.

Ordinance shall mean any act of local legislation heretofore or hereafter adopted, and including this Code, so long as it is adopted by the procedure required for the adoption of an ordinance and so long as it remains in force and effect pursuant to law.

Owner as applied to a building or land, shall mean and include a part owner, joint owner, tenant, tenant in common, or joint

tenant of the whole or a part.

Person shall mean a natural person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, company, corporation, joint venture, club, or its manager, lessee, agent, servant, officer or employee and includes a county, city, public agency, public corporation, public district or political subdivision of the state.

Resolution shall mean and include any act or regulation of the Town Council required to be reduced to writing, but which may be finally passed at the meeting at which it is introduced.

Sidewalk shall mean any portion of a street between the curb line and the adjacent property line, intended for the use of pedestrians, excluding parkways.

State shall mean the State of California.

Street shall mean and include a highway, avenue, lane, alley, court, place, square, curb, and other public ways in the Town which is dedicated and open to public use. “Street” also includes such other public property designated as such by law.

Tenant or occupant applied to a building or land shall mean and include a person who occupies the whole or part of the building or land, whether alone or with others.

Town shall mean Town of Danville.

Town Council shall mean the Town Council of this Town.

Town Manager shall mean the appointed official of the Town who occupies the position as chief administrative officer of the Town.

Week shall consist of seven (7) consecutive days.

Year shall mean a calendar year unless otherwise provided.
