Calexico Municipal Code Ch. 9.06 Skateboard Parks

"Skate park" means any facility that is designed and maintained for the purpose of recreational skating. The skate park shall include the entire area within the fencing surrounding the skate facility, if the immediate skate facility if fenced.

"Skateboard" means a board of any material that has wheels attached and such wheels may be used for moving or propulsion.

It is unlawful and an infraction for any person to ride a skateboard, to skate, or to be within the fenced area surrounding the skate facility in a skate park owned and/or operated by the city, whether supervised or not, unless that person is wearing a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads manufactured for use by skaters. A violation of this section is an infraction punishable by a fine of one hundred dollars per offense.

It is unlawful and an infraction for any person to ride, jump, carry, posses or have any bicycle in a skate park owned and/or operated by the city, whether supervised or not. The bicycle may be impounded and seized as evidence of the violation. If a bicycle is impounded, a twenty-five dollar impound fee will be charged. (Ord 997 § 4, 2001: Ord. 996 § 4, 2001)

The city shall erect and maintain regulatory signs at all skate parks owned and/or operated by the city. Such signs shall afford notice that any person riding a skateboard, or skating in the facility, as well as any person within the fenced area surrounding the skate facility, must wear a helmet, elbow pads, and kneepads and that any person failing to do so will be subject to citation under Section 9.06.020 of the Calexico Municipal Code. Such signs shall also afford notice that any person riding a bicycle in the skate park shall be subject to citation under Section 9.06.030 of the Calexico Municipal Code.
