8.28.010 - Definition.¶
In this chapter, "meat products" means all food products containing the tissue of any animal, fowl, or fish.

8.28.020 - License—Required.¶
No person, firm, or corporation shall sell, or offer for sale, any meat products within the city without obtaining a license to do so from the inspector of food products.

8.28.030 - License—Issuance.¶
The inspector of food products shall issue a license to any person, firm or corporation to sell meat products within the city, provided it appears to the inspector of food products that the place of business of the applicant for a license is so equipped as to comply with the terms of this chapter.

8.28.040 - License—Term—Fee.¶
Such licenses as required by Section 8.28.020 shall be good for a period of three months which shall constitute a calendar quarter of a year, or fraction thereof; and a fee of three dollars shall be charged therefor.

8.28.050 - Inspection of premises—Display of license receipt.¶
All licenses to sell meat products shall have their premises open at all business hours to the inspectors of food products, and shall display near the entrance of their shops so as to be readily visible to all customers their current license receipt.

8.28.060 - Reporting sources of supply.¶
All licensees to sell meat products shall keep the inspector of food products fully informed as to the sources of supply from which they obtain such products, in order that said inspector may visit such sources of supply to inspect the same.

8.28.070 - Refrigerator regulations.¶
All licensees to sell meat products shall maintain sufficient refrigerator room to handle all of their stock of such products, which refrigerators or ice chests shall at all times be in good operating order, and which shall maintain the proper temperature for the preservation of the meat products contained therein.

8.28.080 - Sanitation—Products and storerooms.¶
All meat products and storerooms shall be maintained in a thoroughly clean and sanitary condition.

8.28.090 - Sanitation—Personnel.¶
A. All persons engaged in the handling in any way of such meat products as defined in this chapter shall keep themselves in a clean and sanitary condition.
B. No person suffering from any communicable disease, or in whose place of residence there exists a case of communicable disease, shall be permitted to engage in such handling of meat products.

8.28.100 - Vehicle regulations.¶
A. All vehicles used for the delivery or sale of meat products shall be maintained in a clear and sanitary condition.
B. Any vehicle from which such meat products are sold direct, and which is not used merely as a delivery vehicle for goods purchased at a regular established place of business of the owner, shall bear a license plate showing the license number of the owner, which plate will be furnished by the inspector of food products at cost.

8.28.110 - Sale prohibited—Products from diseased animals.¶
No meat product shall be sold, or offered for sale, in the city which is a part of any animal, fowl, or fish which is diseased in any way, or which has died from natural causes.

8.28.120 - Sale prohibited—Unrefrigerated or substandard products.¶
No meat products shall be sold or offered for sale in the city which are part of the carcass of any animal, fowl, or fish which has not been kept in a proper state of refrigeration from time of killing and dressing until time of sale; nor shall any meat products be sold which do not conform in every particular to the requirements of state and federal laws governing the same.

8.28.130 - Confiscation of nonconforming products.¶
Any meat products found in the city by the inspector of food products which are not in a condition suitable for human consumption; or which have come from any diseased animal, fowl, or fish; or which have not been slaughtered, stored, or handled as required by all governing laws, shall be confiscated by said inspector.

8.28.140 - Violation—Penalty.¶
Any licensee who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be penalized upon conviction for the first offense by the suspension of his license for ten days, for the second offense twenty days, for the third offense thirty days, and for the fourth offense by a revocation of such license. Such penalties shall be in addition to such other fine as may be prescribed elsewhere in this code.
