8.20.010 - Appointment by council.¶
There shall be appointed by the council inspectors of food products to be under the direct management of the commissioner of public safety, health, and welfare.

8.20.020 - Appointment by commissioner.¶
All inspectors who may be employed by the city to enforce the terms of this chapter shall be appointed by the commissioner of public safety, health, and welfare. Such appointment, however, shall be subject to the approval of the council.

8.20.030 - Term of office—Compensation.¶
Inspectors of food products shall hold office at the pleasure of the commissioner of public safety, health, and welfare, and receive one or more dollars per month as compensation for the services they render.

8.20.040 - Keeping of records.¶
A. The inspectors of food products shall maintain in the City Hall a filing system which shall show results of all inspections, and records of all actions taken by the inspectors.
B. Such files shall be exhibited to any citizen of the city upon request.

8.20.050 - Prevention of unhealthful foods or deception.¶
The inspectors of food products shall have under their jurisdiction the inspection and control of all food consumed by the citizens of the city insofar as may be stated in this chapter, and they shall have for their sole object the prevention of the sale of food products which will endanger the health of those consuming the same, or of products which might be sold under conditions or terms which would lead the purchaser and consumer to believe that a better grade of article is being secured than is delivered.

8.20.060 - Authority to arrest for violations.¶
Inspectors of food products shall be rated as special police officers, and shall be duly authorized to make arrests for violations of the terms of this chapter.
