[BS] C104.1 General. These prescriptive methods of retrofitting are intended to increase the resistance of existing gable end construction for out-of-plane wind loads resulting from high-wind events. The ceiling diaphragm shall be comprised of minimum [1] / 2 inch-thick (12.7 mm) gypsum board, minimum nominal [3] / 8 -inch-thick (9.5 mm) wood structural panels, or plaster.
