8.16.010 - Sale or exchange prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, or the agent or employee of any person, firm or corporation, to sell, barter or exchange for other thing of value within the city, for human consumption, any beef, veal, mutton, pork or meat food product without having such beef, veal, mutton, pork or meat food product first inspected by an agent of the State Department of Agriculture, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 732 Statutes 1921, and bearing the stamp, "California, Inspected and Passed," or the stamp "U.S. Inspected and Passed," or a stamp of an approved municipal meat inspection department.

8.16.020 - Penalty for violation.

Any person, firm, or corporation, or the agent or employee of any such person, firm or corporation, who violates any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than three hundred dollars, or thirty days in the city or county jail, or both such fine and imprisonment.
